My rule about not dating with single moms // why 'about'?

Teachers, I have a question about the usage of the prepostion 'about'. In the above sentence (Should I reconsider my “rule” about not dating single moms), I think the speaker's rule is not dating with single moms, and that 'about' can be changed into the prepostion 'of' since the prepostion 'of' has the usage of appostion, as in " I have the habit of never going to bed before 2 am." ( the habit is never going to be before 2 am, and the habit and never going to bed.. is connected by the prepostion of.

Thanks! I would appreciate any help!

Not necessarily. The rule may be (something) about not dating single moms. For instance, "I don't date single moms who are over 30 years old."

Thanks so much, Mister Micawber! So am I correct to assume that 'not dating single moms' is a summarized form of 'I don't date single moms who are over 30 years old' or something like that? I read in George Yule's grammar book that 'about' is sometimes used with summary reports.

No. I just suggested a possible interpretation from my imagination.
