My quote contains a footnote

I'm using a quote which contains a footnote. My document itself contains numerous footnotes and the F.N. within the quote will not coincide with my sequence. Should the F.N. be placed at the bottom of the page, and if so, how would I handle the difference in sequence? Thanks!

If it is your own footnote, you will have to sequence it with your others. If it is a footnote by the writer quoted, use an asterisk or dagger and place his footnote at the bottom of the page, indicating its source: * footnote text [Author's footnote].
