My mother was hearing the music when I came home.

I'd be happy if someone would answer my question. Thanks in advance.

Are the following 2 sentences correct? If so, what's the difference.

A: My mother was listening to the music when I came home.

B: My mother was hearing the music when I came home.

Usually we "listen to music" as an activity. (Note - don't put the "the" in unless you have already talked about some specific music.)

I always remember them like that:

If you listen, you will hear.

If you look, you will see it. Emotion: smile

DollIf you listen, you will hear.

If you look, you will see it.

We could add:

sniff > smell
