My methods of learning English - what do you think?

Hi Pako, interesting site, I didn't read it fully though. But I read the listening skills part. Well, for me it's been always a stone in the shoe the phonetic charts and all the symbols in it, I don't study those things because they are just a pale approximation to the real sounds.

  • What I do is more direct, I listen to the sound of an article or something with the text and try to go near the differents sounds, either speaking aloud or in my mind.
  • I always try to avoid learning the pronunciation of a word by looking its phonetic transcription in a dictionary, I don't mean is completely useless, but I prefer the sound, because my ear is the main actor here, not my sight.
