Thank you Clive

problem is: I'm trying to avoid a cliché (my heart sank) Can you tell me an alternative?

The othr query asked what was the correct word: near or nearly.

Thanks for your help

How could you describe the feeling of horror, etc. other than with 'my heart sank'?

Thank you
