my friend ............ for me.

I have one friend to whom I thought of very close friend so I revealed all my secrets to him but one day he betrayed me. In this way he ...... to/for me.

I want one word which describes the wrong thing done by my friend. Maybe "fooled me" but I don't think so. Please you give me more appropriate word.

Thank you clive.

betrayed conveys that he fooled me or something like that. Actually I want to say that "He did ........(unfair/bad activitty).......... for/to me".

Really I don't know how to express what I want to say. Anyway I think I want one word for something

My father was about to get me a bike if I pass in my exam. But after I passed, he got me only a cycle.

Now can I say, "My father betrayed me"? because he gave me only cycle instead of a bike.

My father let me down. My father didn't keep his promise.

As a matter of interest, what is the difference between a cycle and a bike? They are the same to me.
