My friend and I or me

When posting a comment on a photo, is it correct to say "my friend and me" or "my friend and I"? It sounds awkward to say "my friend and I" but I have noticed that is how a lot of my "more educated" friends on Facebook lable their photos.

There is in fact no grammatical reason to use me but that is what most people use anyway. (Including me! ) CB

"My friend and I" is the grammatically correct phrase, however "my friend and me" is more commonly used - this is probably why the correct way sounds awkward.
