If so, what's the difference? None, really.

A: My father came back in a few minutes.

B: My father came back after a few minutes.

I think if there is any difference between these sentences, it must be that of observing point.
I think in A the speaker's observing point is a certain past point, while in B the observing point is "now" [the time the speaker is mentioning this sentence].
