My family and I? My family and me?

Hello,

Could you help me??

I looked for the info on the internet but could not find only one answer... so I have the doubt.

Do we say...

My family and I went to the park (I know this is correct)

My family and me moved to a new house (how about this one?).

Thank you,

The second one should be the same as the first one. My family and I did something. "Me" would occur this way: Something happened to my family and me.

Both sentences require the nominative case, 'I'.

Both the family and you (I) are the subject of the verb, doing the action of going (went).

My family and me moved to a new house (how about this one?). Try taking away "My family and" to see how the pronouns sound alone:

I went to the park.

Me moved to

And I found the name of a book called: My family and me.

Without any context, me is ok as part of a title, correct?

It is not the fact that the pronoun belongs to a title that allows the objective case, but rather the fact that it isn't part of a clause. We need a clause, both a subject and a verb, to determine the case of the pronoun/noun.

Here is a title (a poor one to say the least, but a sufficient one nonetheless) of a book that requires the subjective case:

"The adventure my family and

You could also think of it as, "(This is about) my family and me."

Yes. I just answered a question like yours, and I've modified it to include titles.

You use "I" when you are doing the action. You use "me" when you are receiving the action.

You would say, "I went to the movies," not "Me went to the movies." It stays that way when you add other people. My family and I went to the movies.

You would say, "Santa gave me a present," not "Santa gave I a present." When you add other people, it stays the same. "Santa gave me
