Story: A thief's confession

I had been addicted to gamble and one day, after running out of all the money I had saved, I came up with an evil idea. I was eager to return to the casino but I could by no means get a sum of money right away. Given the desire for money, I started to plot a theft. I accidentally became aware of a large jewelry shop at a street corn and was immediately temped by gleaming necklaces and rings beautifully displayed in the shop windows. I realized that it was impossible to rob the store in the daytime as two guards worked in the shop during the day. Wondering how I could avoid the guards I noticed the tall chimneys.

One night, I secretively climbed on to the roof and took a look at those chimneys. I was delighted to find that the opening of one of the chimneys was wide enough for a man to get through. I rashly climbed down the chimney on the spot hoping to enter the premises. I went down about 3 meters only to find that I was not able to move further. I climbed up and tried another one where I was trapped again. This time, however, I was firmly stuck and couldn’t move again. I shouted for help but got no answer as no one was around at this time of the day. The overwhelming darkness and silence surrounding me frightened me to death but exhaustedness soon put me to sleep.

I kept on calling for help the next morning and was eventually freed by some fire fighters.
