- Your background and/ or interests that make you competitive for this workshop.
First, I really care about social activities and community development. That’s why I attend a forum name “ Thanh niên v?i Di cu an toàn” which is held by IOM Vietnam in 2 days on April 2017 at Hanoi. And after the forum, all the participants, including me, launched a project through the Hiep si Di Cu FanPage ( You can see it here: https://www.facebook.com/hiepsidicu.iom ). We organized a successful event for youth on July 4 at the UN House building.
Second, my village Bac Ninh City is facing problems stemming from the wastewater from Lang Bun. I want to join this workshop to learn possible solutions for my village. Friends all over the regions will share information and see the problems over the Mekong Delta
- In your opinion, what is the biggest challenge that the Mekong Delta region is facing in terms of the environment?
The biggest challenge that the Mekong Delta region is facing in terms of the environment, I think it is climate change. Rising sea levels, coastal erosion, and landslides.The early last year of 2016, the region suffered the worst drought in 90 years which together with rising sea levels led to a heavy intrusion of saltwater into rice-growing areas. The mangrove forests along the coast which protect the hinterland from floods and storms are also in dramatic decline.
- What do you think you can do to encourage policy makers to make changes to protect the environment in your home country?
As a youth with full of enthusiasm and creative thinking. I always want to do things that can impact the community in a better way. Now aday, the social network is very popular and it is also the good tools to impact to policy makers to build a young community. Thus I want to launch campaigns, events, and slogans, online or offline
I think its a one way I can do to encourage policy makers to make changes to protect the environment in my home country.
- What do you think you can do to transfer the knowledge and experience from the workshop to your friends, colleagues, and institutions?
Previously, when I joined the safety migration forum, a lot of my friends usually asked me about the forum. What is migration? And then I gave simple examples of Migration. Its related to regular daily life. (missing word) Gave my friends link Fanpage that we built if they need more information. So they feel awesome and interested it.
Besides my knowledge, I want to share my experience, stories and real cases that I will learn from the workshop with my teacher who always encourages me in the 4 years university. My friends who always know me. Its a simple talk with my parents and presentation in front of my class.
- How do you expect the lessons learned from the workshop to affect your future studies and professional career?
The more I Discover a new field, learn new things, the more I have full of overview about social and these knowlege will help me alot to figure out my career path in the future. No matter its Big or small activities but its all have worth experiences for me.
- How do you think your participation in the workshop will affect you personally?
I think Mekong Delta’s issues is mutual that every countries in ASEAN also care. if I have a chane to join this workshop I have real view and real experiences.
Through workshop activities and sharing from participants I will learn possible solutions for my village. Kick out my creative thinking to find out solutions for observable consequences in Can Tho City as well as the Mekong Delta.
- If you get funding to do a community project related to environmental issues, what will you do?
If I do a community project related to environmental issues, I will use the funding on two main task. Firstly, organizing events to educate youth about environments issue and how the importance of protecting evironment. Example: ” Run for Mekong Delta-Protect Climate Changes”. Secondly, Beside events, I Will launch a Fanpage and Group on Facebook aim to media about my project.
