My English assignment

My English assignment is the question "What makes you proud of your area?". I am from Hue City in Vietnam so I writes about Hue Citadel. Please read and give comments about my essay below. THank you!

HUE CITADEL

In our opinion, Hue Citadel makes us proud of Hue. It is not only a beautiful structure but also a historic place.

It was started to build in 1804 (one thousand and eighty-four), under Gia Long. Thousands artisans around Vietnam built it. Thirty years later (in 1833), Hue Citadel is completed building under Minh Mang. It was the biggest and prettiest structure in Hue at that time.

Hue Citadel looks like a big square. It highs 4 meters and thick 1.05 meters. It has many large lakes outside with many flowers. These lakes are called “Kim Thuy Lake”. Hue Citadel has 4 gates, too. The first one is Hien Nhan Gate. The second one is Chuong Duc Gate. The third is Hoa Binh Gate. And the finally is Ngo Mon Gate. Ngo Mon gate is only used by kings so it is decorated the most beautifully. It has sun, dragons and clouds which are symbolised to the emperors.

After the gates, you can see 147 (one hundred and forty-seven) structures inside. The structures have many lakes, gardens and trees. I think Hue Citadel is a complex of nature and palaces. The emporers get on with nature. I think it’s so good! The structures are seperated in 5 areas. The first area is used for ceremonies. They are Thai Hoa Palace, Can Thanh Palace... The second area is used for worshipping. They are Thai Mieu, Trieu Mieu,... and Phung Tien Palace. They remind us about the history of Hue and Vietnam. The third area is the palace for Emporers’s mothers and grandmothers. It consists of Dien Tho Palace and Truong Sanh Palace. The forth area is Noi Vu Phu. It is used for storing valued things of royal family. We can find many historic documents there. Noi Vu Phu is very helpful for researching history. The final area consists of Co Ha Garden and Kham Van Palace. They are the educational areas for princes and princess. They have a peaceful and beautiful space with many trees, flowers...

As you see, Hue Citadel is a complex of man-made structures and nature. It is a place of interest in Hue. It is a place of history where we can learn about architecture, history and geography. Futhermore, it attracts hundreds of tourists going to Hue everyday. Especially, when Festival Hue takes place, the number of tourists can be milions of people. Many foreigners go to Vietnam because they want to visit Hue Citadel once. Hue Citadel is so famous, isn’t it? Hue Citadel brings the image of Hue City go around the world. Do you think it’s so good?
