Please explain the expression, 'My days are numbered" here.

It means 'I will die soon'.

'To number' here means 'to count, ie to assign a number'. When you are young, you have so many days ahead of you that you can't count them.

But when you are very old, you feel you have so few days left that you can count them. (one, two, three, . . . .) I
