Must/should for Future Reference

Is it possible to use 'must' or 'should' to express certainty in the future? Is the sentence 'He must/should be coming tomorrow.' correct?

Top answer

To express certainty, I would say He will be coming tomorrow . I would use He should be coming tomorrow to indicate that I think he will be coming tomorrow, but there is a (slight) possibility that he will not. I would use He must be coming tomorrow if there had been some confusion about when he would come; I thought he would come on a different day, but I now think that tomorrow is the day he is likely to come.
