must V/ must have p.p.

Here are two questions that I need your help with.

Q. 1
A: What time is it?
B: Well, we came at seven, and I'm sure we've been here for at least an hour. So it ____________ (be) around eight o'clock.

I think the answer is "must"; however, the answer key says "must have been". Why?

Q. 2
A: I met Ayako's husband at the reception. We said hello to each other, but when I asked him a question in English, he just smiled and nodded.
B: He (speak) ________________________ much English.

I think it's "must not have spoken", while the answer key says "must not speak." Please help with these two items. Thanks.
