Must have been late

Are these correct:
1-As far as I knew, his train was to arrive at five. It was three past five when I got to the train station and he was still there. The train must have been late.

2-As far as I knew, his was to arrive at five. It was three past five when I got to the train station and he was still there. The train had to have been late.
