Must--could you tell me which sentence is correct and why??

Which sentence is correct ,and why??

That man must be drunk too much because he is driving very dangerously.
That man must have drunk too much because he is driving very dangerously.

The second sentence is acceptable but I'm not sure how many native speakers would actually say it. In the first sentence drunk resembles an adjective because of the be before it. You cannot have too much after an adjective.
