Must be very happy

Which are correct:
1) He is beaming with joy. He must be very happy about winning the tournament.
2) He is beaming with joy. He has to be very happy about winning the tournament.

3) He was beaming with joy. He must have been very happy about winning the tournament.
4) He was beaming with joy. He had to be very happy about winning the tournament.

5) He was beaming with joy. He had to have been very happy about winning the tournament.

The idea is the speaker sees 'him' and deduces that 'he' is happy then and there. In '1' and '2' that happens in the present. In the other ones, the seeing that the deducing happen in the past. So he is happy about winning the tournament at the same time as he is beaming with joy.

Gratefully,
Navi.

Dear Navi 1 and 3 are correct. For logical deduction, "must" and "must have" are correct in the present and past. I had to think about the past perfect usage, as it would be rare.

I had to think about the past perfect usage, as it would be rare. I think we would use : would have had to have + pp

e.g. For him to have been so successful in his exam, he would have had to have studied really hard.

Kind regards, Michael
