Must ahve

Hi,
I'd like to know whether the following sentences are both correct and, if not, why not?

They used to think I must have eyes in the back of my head - I knew what they were up to even when I was facing the board.
They used to think I must have had eyes in the back of my head - I knew what they were up to even when I was facing the board.

Thanks a million.
