AnonymousMuscle or muscles
Both are possible; the first speaks of the tissue type (e.g. visceral, cardiac) and the second speaks of the muscular units in the body (biceps, quadriceps, etc.)

Thanks. But the cardiac and visceral are units just as the biceps, triceps and quadriceps. I am confused a bit!

What about:
Different types of diets or diet.
Different types of foods or food.

I think here only diets and foods are correct. Or am I wrong?

No, they are tissue types...like materials

You may use any of the four, though your selection is probably better style.

Ok. So if I were talking a about tissue types, like stomach, heart, or any of the skeletal muscle (biceps, triceps, quadriceps etc), I should say 'different types of muscle'. And if only the units(which is the skeletal muscle), I should say 'muscles'.

I was wondering if these sentences are correct and whether they have different meanings:
The position of your legs is important.
The positions of your legs are important.

Put your legs in a vertical position.
put your legs in vertical positions.

Do these sentence mean the same in terms of the tenses used? I feel that the use of 's in positio

Those aren't tenses; they are numbers. The number of positions involved will determine the choice. The second example of the second pair seems odd, since there is only one verticality.

Thanks. That was very clear. So here the scenario is different than when using types for diets, in which even if I used 'diet' the meaning would not be altered. Am I right?

So if both legs are to be positioned in one specific position, then the choice would be 'position of legs', and if there are more than one position, the 'positions' should be used. Have I understood correctly?
