Multiple Choice Question?

Hi teachers,

Here is a multiple choice question. I think something wrong with the options and distractors.

Question:

A) the oldest / more determined than
B) too old / as determined as
C) as old as / so determined that
D) the oldest / very determined to
E) older than / too determined

Am I right? What could be the correct answer here?

Thank you.

None of these choices work well.
"Mr Simpson is the oldest student at (the) university, but he is more determined to succeed than the others." would work.

None of them makes a grammatical sentence. The only phrase that fits is the oldest.

In addition to BJ’s sentence, this is also possible:

Mr Simpson is the oldest student at university, but he is as determined to succeed as the others.
