Multi-storey housing or multi-family housing

Hi!

Can you help me to understand the difference between these types of housings as "Multi-storey housing" and "multi-family housing"?

In multi strory housing, there are several stories in a building.

But in multi-family housing, several families live.

So, for an instance, four families can live in a two-strorey building or two families can live in a four-storey building.

How can i name the housing which consists 9 floors and 36 flats and each flat belongs to separate family?

You are welcome.

Note that, you use floor while you are talking from the inside of the house or about the inner side of the house and storey when you are talking from outside of the house and see the house as a whole.

Ex. Would you to third floor and see if jane is still in her room.

Ex. My grandparents live on the third floor of a five-storey building.

It helps me, in my occasion i think it is better to use multi-storey housing because i am going to say only that i have a flat in such boulding without specifying a number of floor.
