Multi-seasonal oil or multiseasonal oil?

Hi,
I have two questions:
1) multiseasonal or multi-seasonal oil?
2) multigrade or multi-grade oil?

Thank you.

It hardly matters. Both are in use. The Random House Unabridged Dictionary has no hyphen after multi in any word, but I think quite a few native speakers might prefer to use it.

  • There appears to be a tendency to use a hyphen after some not so common prefixes borrowed from Latin no matter what dictionaries say.
  • Besides, I wouldn't be surprised if someone found a dictionary that hyphenates the words.
