Multi-posting, cross-posting

Question

HiWhat is the differnce between cross-posting and multi-posting? Suppose, the queries which I post on the EnglishForward are also posted on other forums also by me, then what's the bad thing about that? It will provide me with more help and some people's replies would be easier for me to understand that others'. Mostly even in the same thread so many people give their opinion or solution to the same posted query. It's just that everyone tried to solve the question from different angle, and as a result original poster (or, anyone else who reaches that thread thru googling) can choose the reply which makes more sense and easier for them.RegardsJackson

Well, Jackson, multiposting means posting the same question on the same site several times within a short span of time.

Here on EnglishForward.com, the system will not always post a question immediately. It may take a minute or two. But, impatient posters think that their message has been "lost" or "ignored", and they will post it again and again.

Sometimes, anonymous posters will return and post the same question day after day if they don't get an answer. This could also be considered "multiposting". Usually, if a post does not receive an answer or response it is because the question was unclear, inane ot incomprehensible.

Crossposting means exactly what you said it means. I, personally, see no harm in seeking an answer to a question from as many sources as you wish. Just don't play one answer off on another, and start an argument about which answer is correct.

Yes, multi-posting is a bad thing. But cross-posting doesn't do any harm.
