Vocabulary

mullet

Hi,

Meaning#1: 'mullet' is an eatable sea fish
Meaning#2: 'mullet' is a hairstyle

Q#1. My Longman claims 'mullet' is a hearstyle for men, but googling also gives such examples as "she cut her hair into a mullet"
Looks like 'mullet' has become a unisex hairstyle?

Q#2: Is there any connection between the name of the hairstyle ('mullet') and the name of the fish? (The hairstyle is "named after" the fish? :-)

Thank you so much

Yes, but the style has come and gone. It's very rare to see it these days. Or, more accurately, I haven't seen it in many years.

O dear... I wish I could "throw away" all such USELESS words (mullet, glutton, etc) from my gray matter once and for all :-) ....
Thank you, CalifJim!

There's nothing wrong with 'glutton' in its human sense, and 'mullet' is an extremely popular fish in parts of the southern US.
