Hi, The cathedral is decorated with early mosaics---scenes from **** , much restored , when you fix up a damaged or worn work of art, you are said to 'restore it', ie return it to its original condition and a great sad, austere simple, stern, non-frivolous in appearance Madonna,... the Mother of *** please explain the whole sentence to me.
