Much or Many French Fries?

Having an argument with my girlfriend.

She claims that you cannot use "much" when talking about French Fries because you can count individual fries.

My argument is that in very specific situations you can use "many", but only when you want to know the actual number of fries. In most situations though "much" is valid because you don't actually count the number of fries in your order, and it becomes a non-count noun.

Help us out, thank you.

Frankly, most natives would use 'a lot of' or 'lots of'. I can't imagine using 'much' as both their appearance and their spelling ('fries') legislates against it.
