Much better?

Hi. I’ve heard that the use of ‘expose oneself to’ , though correct, can, in some situations, cause chuckles in the classroom due to sexual connotations. It’s understandable, considering what the word expose means.

What about ‘being exposed to’ then?

By being exposed to different ideas, you can become broad-minded.

In normal circumstances, "expose oneself to ~" should be OK, provided the object is not a person. For example, "You should not expose yourself to any risk". However, children of a certain age might chuckle at it, I guess. You should always avoid "expose oneself to (a person)" unless you mean the "flashing" sense.
