MP(M.P.)

The word "MP(M.P.)" is defined as the acronym of several different nouns in my dictionary. What would a native speaker think of first when they hear this expression?

Top answer

As an American, I would first think Military Police. I'm guessing that native speakers from most other countries would think of Member of Parliament.

Correct. In the UK, it normally brings to mind Members of Parliament. The Military Police meaning is less common.
