I was moving on when the car hit me.

Does the preposition `on' here means `in the straight direction'? [Also, please correct it(this question)]

Move along is an informal expression.
Look at this:
Move along there, please!
That doesn't necessarily mean to go forward. You may move aside also. Much depends on the context.
