Movie English no.1: "what's he do for fun?"

Hello there,

The dialogue comes from a wonderful movie "Disconnect" which tells a story of how easily people lose themselves in the weird and wired world of the World Wide Web. One of the main character tries to commit suicide in the movie and in one scene his worried father is having a chat with a boy who is actually responsible for his son's attempt to kill himself. The father, unaware of the boy's involvement in his son's attempt, interviews him to find out as much as he can about his son's private life. He says:

What's he do for fun?

Can someone explain it? Let me just add one piece of information. The father is a well-educated lawyer, so I don't think he could make grammar mistakes.

Thanks

PS. I'd be grateful if you could point to any mistakes you have noticed in my post.

I have never seen what's standing for what does before... For me what's = what is...

Thanks Clive for a blazing fast reply!

Yeah, I'm aware of that... I have some paragraphs I'd like someone to have a look at but I haven't posted them yet because I suppose they might be too long for you guys to check them.

Perfect StrangerI have never seen what's standing for what does before.
That's because we don't write this contraction: we do use it in informal conversation.
