Move over a little bit

1. Would you mind moving over a little bit so my friend and I can sit down?
2. Would you mind battering your cigarette? I can't stand the smoke.

- Are these two sentences natural to say?

Hello there 1 is fine - very natural and polite English! You could also leave out either 'bit' or 'little', so 'move over a little' or 'move over a bit'. 2.

2. The grammar is fine, but we wouldn't say 'battering' - that's to hit something, usually with a stick. I assume you mean to extinguish the cigarette, so we'd probably say 'Would you mind putting your cigarette out?' or 'putti
