Mouth breaking

Hi

In my language there is an expression whose literal translation would be mouth-breaking.

He gave her a mouth-breaking reply. [a very strong reply/answered that silenced her.]

Mouth-breaking reply, answer, comment, etc

Could you please help me with the English equivalent?

Regards,

Tom

We could say: "He gave her a reply that made her jaw drop" (a "jaw-dropping reply" is possible but rather unlikely).

squelching, eviscerating, gutting, crushing, punishing (reply, retort)

to squelch: to silence, as by a crushing retort. (informal and chiefly British)
