Mount?

Hi, I have a question. Or two. When you want to talk on the phone while driving, you mount your phone on a mount(?), so you can have both your hands on the steering wheel. I would like to know how I can use the word mount as a noun and as a verb. What about these two examples:

- I mount the phone.

- I place the phone on the mount.

Are both of these okay? And would native speaking people understand these sentences? Thank you in advance.
