Motorcycle with two passengers

Hi.

I wonder if we have a word for situation in which several people are riding on a motorcyle?

I mean when someone is riding a motorcycle and for example two people are sitting behind him.

What do we say when we want to describe that?

Thanks

Thanks Dave. That was the word I was looking for.

Would you make several examples of yours used in everyday English?

Ex. I saw the motorcyle with two passengers in pillion. Is it right?

Thanks

Hi Hrsanei

I saw a motorcyle with two passengers riding pillion. (That means there are three people on the motorcycle.)

Hi hrsanei

Although I recognised your word, I don't hear it very often in UK English

Here are a few examples..

- To carry a pillion passenger in the United States or United Kingdom, one must hold an appropriate license

- Riding pillion is something that many people do: sometimes once only, before they declare 'never again!'

- Many motorcycles allow you

Hi

It's an interesting word that starts off more than 500 years ago as a noun: a fur blanket that is placed on a horse so that a companion can ride behind the saddle

But in the sentence..

- Many women do not like to ride pillion.

.. it has become an adverb: it is modifying the verb "ride"
