Motivational letter Italy exchange

Hey everyone, I have applied for an exchanging programme with an Italian school. We will go there for 5 days, and they will go to us for 5 days. The problem is that only 19 pupils of our school can participate, so you have to write a Motivational letter about why you want to go to Italy. The best 19 are selected to participate.

Here is my first draft:

Dear mr. *,

As you know, I have applied for the exchanging programme with the Italian school * in Treviso. With this letter I am trying to tell you why I want to go there.

I have never been to Italy before, but this country has always appealed to me. I love the culture, the food, the language and the way people treat each other. The Italian culture is different from any culture in Europe, and I would love to experience this. I have looked up pictures of Treviso, and it looks very beautiful. It is very close to Venice as well, and I have always wanted to go to Venice, the city of water. Travel through the city in the gondola, looking at the beautiful architecture; Venice is a beautiful city. It’s not for nothing that it is on the World Heritage Site.

When the Italian people come to our country, I would love to show them some more of our culture. Perhaps we could take them for a trip to Amsterdam, or show them the city of Tilburg. I wonder how they will find cycling to school every day, or how they will react when they see the horse my nabours have. This must be an once-in-a-lifetime experience for them.

The exchanging programme has everything to do with water. Apparently, Venice has the same water problems as we have in the Netherlands. It’s below sea level, just like half of our country. I find this really interesting, and I would love to do a project about this. We Dutch people are really proud at our dikes and sluices. We are famous for our Delta plans, which prevent the country for disappearing under water.

To conclude, I think this project is really interesting. I would love to be a part of this exchange programme between two very different countries with different cultures. I am looking forward to this opportunity to be in one of the most beautiful countries in the world, and hopefully make good friends in this country.

Regards,

Anne S.

Can you help me perfect my letter? I really want to be selected!
