I am getting my application ready to send of to a university in Germany. With the application, they've asked for high school transcripts, school leaving certificate, reference letter and motivational letter. Not really knowing what a motivational letter was, I found some examples on the forums here. Here is my motivational letter. I would love comments and corrections. I would like it to be the best it can be. Thanks!

Dear Sir/Madamme,
My name is Jamal Rahhali, I am 21 years old, and I am a citizen of Canada. I am writing to apply for the Bachelor Degree program in Electrical Engineering at Hochschule Mannheim.
Large amounts of my leisure time growing up were spent enthusiastically pulling apart and putting back together computers and their components, and researching how it all worked together at its most fundamental level. I learned it was electricity, and from then on, electrical production, distribution and communication sparked an interest in me. After learning Electrical Engineering provided a way for me to study those areas, I attended university open-houses and fairs to gain a better understanding of what it would be like as an EE student and professional. After all this, Electrical Engineering seemed right for me.
I am confident that my commitment and excellent marks in High School Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science have perfectly prepared me academically to study Electrical Engineering. In addition, attending Bible College after High School has further helped me with prioritizing time and workload. Academics aside, I am easy to get along with, work very well alone and in groups and am a good leader and public speaker. For example, being in Bible College has given me the opportunity to do much public speaking, such as sermons, and organize events within the school. I am also creative, imaginative, and goal orientated. For example, I took the initiative and started learning German half a year ago by myself, because I knew Germany was where I wanted to be a year down the road. I believe these are the qualities to be successful in this field.
Part of the Bible College that I attended was that I went on outreach mission trips around the world. One of those mission trips landed me in north Switzerland and Baden-Wuertemmberg for one month. The beauty of Baden-Wuertemmberg, the German people, and the language imprinted something good on my heart. I knew that attending University there would provide me the perfect opportunity to learn the language while working toward a university degree.
After researching the over 60 different Universities in Baden-Wuertemmberg, Hochschule Mannheim was the only one to offer an international Bachelor in Electrical Engineering. Moreover, the student language, culture and orientation program is the most welcoming and helpful I’ve read about. After contacting Professor Matthias Seitz about the likelihood of me, an English speaker with limited German, doing well in the coarse, it reassured me to hear that he has had students in the past come with no German knowledge and still make it. It is for all these reasons that Hochschule Mannheim seems like perfect place of study for me.
With a passion and interest in Electrical Engineering as well as the academic background to accompany it, I am confident that a degree in Electrical Engineering at Hochschule Mannheim will equip me with the skills and knowledge that will enable me to pursue a career in Electrical Engineering, and at the same time, cater to my goals of learning the German language. Plus, you’ll have a Canadian on campus, and that’s always a good thing!
Sincerely,
Jamal
