Hi people! What do you think?
I would really appreciate quick reply because the application deadline is tomorrow

Dear Mr. xxx,
I am writing to apply for a Ph.D. position “Ion channels and cardiogenesis/heart regeneration” at the Institute of Functional Genomics in Montpellier. On the third of July this year I received my Masters degree in Molecular biology and Biotechnology from the University of Zagreb, Croatia and the University of Orléans, France. I was among top six students elected for the double-degree programme of the two universities and have spent the final semester of my studies at the University of Orléans in France where I have gained much laboratory practice, became independent and determined to pursue an international scientific career.
My internship took place at the Institute for Experimental and Molecular Immunology and Neurogenetics (INEM) at CNRS in Orléans where I was working on my master thesis project of determining the role of interleukin-1 in ozone induced lung injury and inflammation. I have used wild type and different knockout mice to elucidate molecular mechanisms underlying inflammation and became interested in cell signalling and cell-cell interactions. This experience has been very valuable as it have sharpened my analytical and problem solving skills by enabling me to design and conduct experiments independently and interpret the results. Throughout the course of my studies I have gained laboratory practice that includes working both in vitro and in vivo, immunofluorescent analysis, general RNA and DNA methods like isolation, manipulation and PCR, general methods used to isolate, purify and study proteins as well as chemical methods of extraction and chromatography.
I enjoy reading popular science books in nearly all fields of science which I find exciting and perspective broadening. Feeding my interest in biology with scientific articles inspires me to participate on a project such as yours where I can learn and increase my practical experience on different models of zebrafish, cell culture and mice. I want to help elucidate the mechanisms that push cells across different epigenetic landscapes resulting in stem- like phenotypes and tissue regeneration. It is here I believe that I can get insight into most diverse scientific problems and get qualifications to continue the research in such areas with high potential for human health improvement, for example tissue engineering. Lastly, your research centre is situated in Montpellier, the city I have visited and fell in love with while studying in France and where I would like to come back.
I would be honoured if you accept my candidature to be a Ph.D. student at your laboratory. My work experience and education are listed on the CV and I will gladly provide you with further details on the interview. Thank you for your time and I look forward to your favourable reply.
Sincerely,
Kristina Zec
