MOTIVATIONAL LETTER ERASMUS UNIVERSITY ROTTERDAM

Hello, everyone! I really hope that somebody will help me with my motivational letter since I really need some. I need to send it before the 1st of May, this year, so please, I really need some help. These are the letter requirements from the university:

  • Personal information: your full name, date of birth, complete postal address, e-mail address and (mobile) phone number;
  • Your motivated interest in arts and culture;
  • Why you would like to study at Erasmus University Rotterdam;
  • Your international career aspirations;
  • Your international background, including nationality, previous education and international experience.

Dear Sir/ Madam,

I would like to apply for the International Arts and Culture Studies Program at Erasmus University, Rotterdam for the Fall term in 2017. The purpose of this letter is to present my reasons for choosing your university and to provide my general background.

First of all, I would like to introduce myself. My name is X, I live in the city of Bacau which is located in the North-Eastern area of Romania, called Moldova. On the 1st of August 2017, I will turn 19 years old. I was born and raised in this city just like my parents were. I live at Petru Rares, 9, A, 12 and my postcode is 600039.

I spent my primary school at National College of Arts “George Apostu” and my secondary school at National College “Ferdinand I”, which are both located in my hometown. In primary school I learned how to play the piano which was my major subject, followed by musical theory. I also learned how to play the flute and I was part of a musical choir. Most of my accomplishments during these years were due to one instrument, namely the piano. I joined a lot of contests each year and won many prizes (The Piano Olympiad, school competitions), but I also played at many concerts and recitals. I feel that primary school nurtured my sensitivity and my artistic spirit. Secondary school introduced me in the field of Humanities which developed my personality and critical thinking, it also helped me gain a better perspective of the world and empathize better with the ones around me.

In highschool, I was significantly influenced by the subjects Economy, Sociology and Psychology.

Both primary and secondary school moulded me into the person I am today and I was able to find a balance between art and knowledge which made me believe that this program is the perfect match for my aims.

I can say that I have an enormous desire for knowledge and this is why I spend most of my spare time reading, looking up interesting news or undiscovered works of art, like music, paintings, drawings etc. and watching old movies, in other words anything that keeps my mind trained and active. I do like other activities as well. Some of them are drawing, jogging, doing yoga, riding my bycicle and hiking or spending quality time with my nearest and dearest, having insightful talks and, of course, playing the piano.

My passion for arts and traveling lead me to your University. After researching several European universities, the final conclusion was that Erasmus University has everything that I was looking for: very high standards of education, a great diversity of students and, most important, an interdisciplinary approach which gives you the opportunity to enter not only into the field of Arts, Culture and History, but also into the field of Sociology, Economy and others.

As a future career, I aways aspired to a workplace which allows me to fulfill myself professionally and personally or, why not, to travel a lot. My opinion is that this is possible only by following what you’re keen on, by being completely open to discover new things and all the aspects that lead to successful teamwork. It would be desirable to do something where I’m able to put my dynamism, creativity and optimism into. Erasmus University seems an excellent place to start my career and since I think my strong points are good communication and administrative skills, I see myself as a really motivated and ambitious person and thus a perfect candidate for your program.

It has been my ambition to study at the Erasmus University ever since I visited Rotterdam last summer. I was impressed by everything about the city. I was surrounded by art and history at every step I took, and wandering through the city centre was kind of a miracle for me. So, I strongly aim this chance to live in this wonderful city. In addition, The Netherlands is a very advanced European country with modern economics and developed markets. The program at Erasmus seems the perfect opportunity to interface with other cultures, learn other languages, work under a different educational system, and enrich my overall experience.

Thank you very much for considering my application. I look forward to your positive response.

Yours Sincerely,
X.
