It's a great pleasure to have a chance to write to you. I wish to apply to the PhD position in Bio-Organic Chemistry with chemical synthesis of proteins in your research group at Humboldt University Berlin, Germany. This program is a concrete step towards my future as a chemist in computational chemistry and biophysics. My ultimate objective is to hold a teaching and research position in an educational sector.
In 2012, I earned a graduate degree (16 year education) in chemistry with a major of analytical chemistry from G.C. University, Lahore, Pakistan. Benefiting from the broad nature of chemistry, I have been exposed to a wide range of subjects from theory to practical. Having studied the specialized courses, I have acquired the basic skills of analytical techniques, analytical thinking and information evaluation. I have completed my bachelor degree thesis on the production of furfural from agricultural wastes and its quantification through HPLC.
Following my first degree, I remained at the same university where in October 2014 I will receive a master degree in chemistry with expected over 80% marks.
I am fortunate to have an exciting opportunity in performing research as an internee at the M.N. Chemical Industries on the project of synthesis of 1-amino-8-naphthol-3,6-disulfonic acid its biodegradation and its derivatives. I always wanted to learn about the relationship of chemistry and its applications. By conducting normal laboratory activities, I sharpened my critical thinking and analysis as well as acquired advance skills and techniques, especially those related to chemical analysis.
Apart from my studies, I acted as a program and sports coordinator and volunteered in other departmental social activities, like organizing first aid course and departmental annual functions and tours.
I wish to pursue my career with a PhD in Germany, in order to acquire a high level international profile, and the chemical synthesis of proteins would provide me the rare opportunity to join two different study fields: on one side, bio-chemistry, which is my strongest subject of interest; on the other side organic chemistry. I selected your program because of its primary focus on bio-organic chemistry. I feel motivated to learn about the advance courses and advanced techniques.
I also worked as a teacher in a Secondary School and internee in a chemical industry. Through these experiences, I strengthened my interpersonal skills by with fellow team members and others. I am confident that my interdisciplinary and industrial background will strengthen your research program and will bring a high level of energy and enthusiasm to your program. I am sure to exceed your expectations, because of my academics and interpersonal skills as well as the experience gained from my internships. I will enrich the program by enabling fellow students and professors to benefit from my ambitious and open nature.
