motivation letter vs. explanation of field of study and study program

I m applying for a master course in Tokyo and I m asked to write something about my field of study and my study program. The problem I have is that I m not realy sure waht they want to hear. Well, of course, I would try to explain why I m studying architecture, why I want to do it in Japan and so on. I m not sure what they mean with study program. There is not a lot of information about the offered courses. I could imagine to pick some courses which interest me especially and write why I want to participate it. but I m not sure if that s realy the thing they want to hear. I also could imagine that both is jsut some kind of motivation letter.......did anyone ever write a study program? It would be very nice if you could give me an advice.
