Motivation Letter to the University of Erasmus

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am here by applying for entrance to the Msc Economics & Business at the Erasmus School of Economics Rotterdam in academic year 2009/2010. In the following letter I will explain why I think that the EUR is the ideal university for me.

First of all I would like to start with information regarding my background and my international experience which I have acquired so far. I was born in a small town in Siberia called Syrgyt, at the age of 7 my family moved to Ukraine for a year. After that we moved to Israel for three and half years, as my family has Jewish rots and we were eligible to migrate to Israel during the break up of Soviet Union. During my time in Israel I realized that I was very fast learner both for languages, traditions and customs. In one year I fluently learned Hebrew and assimilated within the Jewish society.

My father’s job as a business man and an owner of his own company allowed us to travel extensively across Europe and the world. At the age of 11 my family moved to Czech Republic as the hot climate conditions in Israel was not suitable for my mother’s health. In Czech Republic my love for languages and education as well as meeting people from various parts of the world was at its pick, I had enrolled into International School of Prague (ISP) which is an American high school with students from Sri Lanca to United States to Zimbabwe. Although at the point of enrolment I only spoke two languages which are Russian and Hebrew, learning English was a very pleasant and challenging experience for me which I mastered with in the first two years of my studies.

In the year 2000 I went to England to enroll into the GCSE program at Malvern Collage. During my studies in various parts of the world I had always been heavily active in sports. Highlight of my sport activities are three time junior champion of Israel in swimming as well as several silver and bronze medals. During my study in ISP I was captain of the football team which gave me the ability to travel extensively around Europe participating in competitions among other America schools in Europe.

After finishing my GCSE’s I came back to Prague and finished high school after which I enrolled into University of New York in Prague to attain degree in Business Administration. I have graduated with degree in BA at the end of 2007.

Firstly I have chosen to apply to the EUR because of its accreditations and rankings as well as being renowned as one of top business schools in Europe. I would like to pursue a degree in Master of Business and Economics because this is the field in which I fill comfortable and would like to start building my career. I had always been outgoing and eager to be a part of team as well as take responsibility over it when it requires. Second reason for choosing EUR is because of its multi nationality, I enjoy being in a multinational environment because of the experiences I can obtain from different cultures and also share mine. I believe that EUR is the perfect place where I can grow and expand my knowledge of business economics and finance as well as Dutch language and customs.
