Motivation letter revision

Hello, first I need to say that this forum is absolutely amazing and I really appreciate all the work that you do for all of us, looking for any help. :-) I am currently applying for a research fellowship in the US and have already written my motivation letter. But I am afraid that this paragraph is not very good. Could please anyone look at it and help me to maybe make it sound better? Thank you very much in advance. Have a good day, K.

The objective of my research fellowship at the University of Iowa is to work on my diploma thesis which I would like to focus on an introduction of the system of social work in the United States of America – in the concreteness, on the position and role of social workers in the US. In this regard, this research fellowship at the University of Iowa is crucial for me. The School of Social Work offers not only very attractive structure of studies but also the local library disposes of many publications that are essential for my diploma thesis and which are not available in the Czech Republic yet. This research fellowship would also give me a chance to include not only the theoretical but also and mainly the practical extent to my diploma thesis because I would be in an actual environment and could talk to experienced specialists and professionals in this field or use a field research. I strongly believe that international cooperation and development in the particular countries should be based mainly on a mutual inspiration and communication which is what the work on my diploma thesis could partly bring. To study at the University of Iowa in the field that I have been turning to for so many years is a great opportunity for me to improve my present educational background as well as my knowledge of English terminology from the field of social work.
