Motivation letter-PhD application

Firstly, I would like to thank for the possibility of this forum. It´s a great help for us, whose first language is not english. I am applying for a PhD, to which I need to send a cover/motivation letter. Could you please peruse it for me and let me know how to improve it.

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to apply for a Ph.D position, within the CLEAN-gas project. My career ambition is to become a doctor researching novel combustion system.
In 2011 I received my Bachelor degree in Energy Engineering at University of XXX with top grades, placing in the top decile of my class. Afterwards, I decided to continue my academic training in the same university, with a Master Degree in Energy Engineering, which I got in 2014 magna cum lauda, placing in the top five of my class.
Last year I was selected as an Erasmus Placement exchange student at the XXX University in XXX. At the same time, I had the opportunity to undertake my master thesis work on “Pollutant emissions in novel combustion systems: development of numerical model” within a cooperation project between University of XXX (Prof. XXX) and XXX University (Prof. XXX). I strengthened my theoretical knowledge and become conversant with pollutant formation and the novel combustion system, such as MILD combustion.
Currently, I am attending a Research Master at XXX in XXX, within the Environmental and Applied Fluid Dynamic department. I will complete it on June 2015. During this work, I am meeting people from all over Europe with different backgrounds and cultures. I find this experience personally and professionally rewarding because, by comparing my outlooks for the future, I have a deeper appreciation of the different perspectives in the world of fluid dynamic and turbulence. Moreover, I have acquired a good methodology to manage problems in the research world. Therefore, I think that the Research Master will be very helpful for my future career, even dealing with different subjects.
I want to take part in CLEAN-gas Ph.D project because of your outstanding educational and scientific program. With many distinguished scientists as professors in all the four university involved in the project, I know that I will gain expert knowledge at the forefront of discovery. Moreover, CLEAN-gas is a concrete way to reduce the impact of natural gas combustion on enviroment and I really want to take part. All these positives allow me to pursue my dreams and ambitions.
Given my past experiences, I am confident that I will bring a high level of energy and enthusiasm to your program. I am sure to exceed your expectations, because of both my academic and interpersonal skills as well as the experience gained from my internship and Research Master. Furthermore, my international background and interdisciplinary education will add more diversity to your program.
