Dear all,
Could you please correct my text if you see any mistake or if you think I could have written it nicer.
Thanks in advanced.
Dear Dr. XXX,
I am interested to apply for the PhD studentship currently available under your auspices in the XXX project and I believe my academic background and experience are suited for the needs of this endeavor.
I am currently working towards a Master in XXX and specializing in XXX at XXX in the XXX. My early interest and curiosities in brain activity and connectivity motivated me to seek out ways to be involved in the neuroscience research, and I granted a full scholarship for excellent students to study XXX in the XXX. The curriculum of my course modules has covered a range of topics in neuroscience research. The course XXX was one of my interesting and challenging topics that brought a lot of ideas in my mind for each single topic. The course aimed to provide us with a basic understanding of the theories and ideas concerning the nature of motor control, motor development, motor learning and functional recovery in patients with diseases of the neurological, orthopedic, or cardiovascular systems. It brought me the strong motivation to work on the neuroscience projects, although it was so much difficult as I did not have any related background. I tried to find an internship related to the children's disorders such as XXX or ADHD as I had some idea which could have helped them. All my searching efforts boil down to the fact that I need to know XXX(the countries language) in order to communicate with the children and it was not possible for me to learn it before the start of my internship, and I advised to search for other topics in neuroscience to explore my knowledge and skills.
My current research project, under the supervision of Professor XXX in the XXX Institute, focuses on XXX from EEG. The results of this current project will be used for further research in Brain Computer Interface as a communication tool for people with severe motor disabilities, such as those with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). During my master program, I also had an opportunity to work on a TMS project under the supervision of Professor XXX in the XXX. My topic of interest was XXX. The research aimed to measure topographical pattern of cortical structures to better understand cortical reorganization seen in movement disorders like focal hand dystonia. These experiences have heightened my passion for the world of neuroscience and offered me valuable insight into mysteries behind human brain.
My eagerness and my excellent opportunities concerning research through a series of projects has inspired me to apply for this PhD position. My problem-solving and analytical skills have flourished and I have expanded my network of experts within several relevant fields. At the same time, I am confident of contributing originally to the ongoing work and shall certainly be able to exploit my potential to the fullest.
With regards,
XXX
