I am writing a motivation letter to apply for a master programme. However, my GPA is just enough to be accepted. In that reason, I believe I need a strong motivation letter. I would be more than glad if you could help me with it.
I would like to mention few points regarding my letter.
I believe my letter is too long. Eventhough i tried to make it shorter, i feel like I need to tell everything I mentioned below.
The beginning of my letter (first sentence) was inspired by another letter I came across on the net. Therefore, I would be glad if you could help me with that.
As a result of a practise based curriculum that my current school has I need to follow a preparatory year before starting the master. That is why i mention the premaster and marketing master programme together.
Thank you in advance for your help and I am looking forward to receive your feedback.
Marketing, as a field had always fascinated me right from the time I was first introduced at the beginning of my undergraduate studies. I believe my penchant for this field stems from its unique content, defined with rules and principles yet included a crucial role for self interpretation and self-expression of analysis and practises which made it a subject of both science and arts. These aspects of marketing, triggered a tremendous interest on me througout my studies and encouraged me to apply for Pre-Master Programma with an intension of following Msc Marketing programme at X.
The influence of marketing over business and people is increasing day by day all over the world. This is especially so with increasing globalisation. The term globalisation, along with the rapidly growing overseas markets opportunities, prompted many enterprises to enter into these markets without having the proper understanding of the demands and dynamics of them. Marketing, with its content, having the cooperation and intterrelation of science and art disciplines (i.e Sociology, Anthropology, Statistics, Economics, Technology, Law etc. ) structures the core element of the understanding that relates them to success and I believe the Pre-Master and Marketing Programmes of X provide the best opportunity to have this understanding.
During my studies, I aim to equip myself as best as I could to gain the versatality this particular field requires in order to achieve my goals and have a successful career which I can feel myself belonging to very strongly. My educational background has instilled in me the qualities required to meet the rigors of this demanding course of study. I have a solid grounding in analytical and logical thingking from my mathematics and science-based high school education, which was further strengthened by my studies in International Business and Management at Y, I took number of courses in XYZ as well as completing several projects together with my team as parts of my bachelor study which also allowed me to gain practical experience. In addition to that, I participated in Student Exchange program and studied one semester in Z. It was a priceless experience for me. During my study there, I had the chance to experience the completely academic education during which I took courses such as Accounting for Multinational Organisations, Business Administration, Economics, Political Economy. I believe this academic experience was an important step for my personal development to improve the versataility I aim to and also will be beneficial for me during my master study, especially on my first year at Pre-Master Programme.
My motivation for the programme also comes from the international environment that X offers. My international background will allow me to be a part of the international scene both socially and academic. Since I was born in X and grew up in Y, I am the product of an international culture which I tried to enrich by maintaining a balance of technical knowledge accumulation and international experience. Throughout my stidies, I have had the chance to know four different cultures. These experiences had a great impact on my personal development, perspective and outlook as well as on my future plans. As an international business and management student, It was not hard to realize the importance of cultural differences on international business and the role of marketing on preventing these differences from becoming obstacles. It was quite obvious that lacking any kind of international capability and adaptability would hinder to reach and maintain success. This awareness motivated me to participe on extra-curricular activities which I could combine with my studies and will be beneficial for me in the future as a proffessional. I have experienced leadership and have learnt teamwork through participation in the student communities since high school. My close involvement with the student body has led to my mentorship at Erasmus Student Network. The organisation that helps the exchange students from different countries of the world with their adaptation processes to the Netherlands and Rotterdam, and also with any kind of problem they might encounter during their stay. Through my interaction with the exchange students, I gained more knowledge about different cultrures, organised events for them that helped me to develop my leadership, communication, co-ordination and cooperation skills. In order to be successful in the professional arena, it is also very important to be qualified person and to distinguish myself from others. For that reason, I took classes and attended courses in X and Y languages on top of learning different computer programs. I developed a keen interest on graphic design during my bachelor studies which allowed me to improve my creative skills that I could combine with my studies especially on the preparetion and presentation phases of the projects I completed with my teams. I also carried this interest one step further and started to work part time as a freelancer, mostly for student organisations and their events.
During the five months internship at M, which is one of the world's largest company's and the leader of X market, I had the unique opportunity to work in two different departments. Working as an intern at Human Resources department allowed me to have the understanding of a global company's dynamics, as a result of the departmant's cooperation with all other departments of the company and also I received a detailed knowledge of Human Resources Management which I believe will be beneficial for me on my professional career. In addition to my given tasks there, I took the initiative to re-design some of the advertisements they release both internally and externally such as job advertisement and greetings which were useful for the company to market itself to potential and current employees to increase their motivation.
At marketing department, I was assigned to be a Customer Representative intern. Here, I got acquainted with Business-to-Business marketing and Business-to-Business Sales. The company's clientele included some of the worlds largest companies of their sectors such as Philip Morris International, British American Tobacco, IKEA, Nike, Inditex, Sabic and many other small and medium enterprises which enabled company to have more than %60 market share while its main competitor remained at %12. It was an excellent example of a successful marketing strategy and brand management where the company adopted itself and redesigned its operations considering the dynamics and demand of X market. It was a real-life experience for me to observe the importance of marketing and had an influence on my career aspectations.
I foresee my own career in the direction of brand and product management, initally from a marketing position in a retail or FMCG business and ultimately from a leadership role. From simple observation, I have discovered that a master in marketing management provides a distinct advantage to reach my career goals. There is an analytical nature and solid marketing knowledge inherent to Marketing Management programme which I believe is perceivable only by commiting two years, including a year in Pre-master, to the academic study. Considering the exceptional content of my current studies, the Pre-master, as a tailored programme, provides the unique opportunity to compensate and expand my knowledge through a year in order to reach my utmost potential and derive optimum benefit from the master programme I intend to follow. The Pre-master programme of X distinguishes itself from others with its curriculum which allows students to compensate all requirements of an academic master while combining it with the master related specific courses. I believe, this tailored curriculum provides high motivation by engaging the pre-master into the intended master programme and making it an actual part of the master, rather than a prepatory year. The Marketing programme does not offer any less. It is a practically oriented, research-driven and internationally focused programme and as it is in the Pre-master, the programme allows students to design their own curriculum. Considering these, there is no doubting that Marketing Management programme of X is quite appropriate for my purposes and career aspirations. My motivation and decision to apply for Pre-master at X also strengthened as aresult of exclusive research opportunities I had during my bachelor studies. I have had the chance to attend bachelor and master open days where I received detailed information about the school and the programmes and participated in simulated lectures. Undeniably, my decision also positively impacted by the informations I had from bachelor, pre-master and master students.
I am looking forward to this position, a huge opportunity of achieving prestigious academic knowledge and experience of excitement and satisfaction of being a part of your university. Based on my academic knowledge and experience on this area as an International Business and Management student, I believe that I have the capability and potential to be successful at X.
I wish to thank you for your time and consideration and will be more than happy to provide any further information or documents, if required. I look forward to getting in touch with you.
