Applicant for September 2017 admission to the Master’s in International Business and Entrepreneur

With this letter, I am writing to express my interest in applying for a Master’s Degree Programme in International Business and Entrepreneur starting in autumn 2017.

I am currently completing my bachelor’s degree in Business Management at ABC University of Applied Science. My undergraduate studies and work experiences have formed the basis of my steadfastness towards pursing an in-depth knowledge in International Business and Entrepreneur. My degree courses have given me a solid foundation in various subjects which includes economics, business, and finance. Since my interest path has been continuously centered on entrepreneurship, investment and international business, while I have volunteered most of my spare time in Start-up ecosystem in Victoria Region to grasped the challenges and success factors of an entrepreneur.

I have a high level of motivation, perseverance with a practical approach to problem solving and a drive to see things through to completion. I have a great eye for details. I am eager to learn and I enjoy overcoming challenges. I have strong technical skills, which help me to integrate technology into business processes in all its forms and manage a project successfully.

During my studies, I have had an opportunity to develop my entrepreneurial mindset and managerial skills as a coordinator for registration at ABC conference 2013, I successfully lead a team of seventy (70) people. ABC conference is a yearly start-up conference that facilitate founder and investor meeting. Start-up pitches their ideas and possibly get funded by investors during or after the event. My primary responsibilities was to manage the affairs of the team in charge of the cash inflow at the registration front desk, assigned duties, appoint sub-team leader, setup registrations points in some strategic locations in Victoria region to register about 7500 visitors in a timely and effective manner amongst other responsibilities.

I am an energetic, ambitious person who has developed a mature and responsible approach to any task that I undertake, or situation that I am presented with. I am excellent in working with others to achieve a certain objective on time and with excellence. I have a proven ability in leadership as well as working in a team with great intercultural awareness. As a student worker at XYZ Marketing , I have proven these skills, I provide assessments and background profiles based on research (MMM Start-up Companies database), to help business development team identify and qualify start-up companies based on the analysis of variety of data.

Since my last four-year experience has been centered on start-up and investment, with my academic studies, I have no doubt in my mind that International Business and Entrepreneur programme is the best fit for me and will help me gain in-depth knowledge necessary for my future career goal.

My Bachelor’s thesis is to understand the key element of investor’s presentation. To help Start-up companies or founder understands what are the investor’s decision-making criteria. During this study, qualitative research method was adopted, while interview was used to collect data. I was opportune to interview two University of ABC alumni, after the interview I cannot be more convinced that is an institution with an outstanding educational system, thus, where I have decided to pursue my academic career.

In today’s global economy, quality education, multiple skills, being well-rounded academically and professionally is a unique characteristic of an entrepreneur. To know something about related discipline and deep rooted knowledge of another discipline, defines my core value; University of Jyväskylä is one of the most successful multidisciplinary research based institution in Finland and I strongly believe that I will be well-rounded after my graduation from your institution.

I believe that I am an Ideal candidate for this program. I am confident that I have a strong academic background as well as professional experiences, that is directly related to this program. With these, I have competitive edge and ability to thrive in the program. Being an ambitious, curious person and my open-minded nature, I believe the erudite professor at the University will be glad to meet with me. Having studied and lived in two different continents have facilitated my cultural awareness necessary in this program and when transacting businesses across the globe.

Also, since I moved to Victoriai region, I have spent most of my time working closely with different institutions, both private and Government institution that formed the start-up ecosystem in the region and this provides me with knowledge of what challenges entrepreneur faced at different growth stage and the right attitude necessary to survive, ranging from building a team which is key to the survival of an enterprise, seeking seed fund which is tough as nascent firm has no credibility or track record as this stage, ability to identify the niche market and build a business model that works especially in this era of disruptive innovation among others.

My passion and commitment to see things work-out for start-up companies and immerse contribution to the Start-up ecosystem in the region. I am confident that I will be an asset to your program with energy and enthusiasm. I am good at winning people for good purposes and I believe I will be a source of energy to fellow students in creating the future which will enrich the program. I believe strong collaboration among students brings innovation and strengthen the quality of learning environment on campus. I promise to work hard to support and strengthen the outstanding reputation maintained by University of ABC for years.

I believe this program will enable my future aspirations, because my life goal is to solve human problems with business. I originated from Africa that is full of challenges. When I moved to live in Europe, I realized many of these problems have been solved long ago in this part of the world. I wonder why these solutions have not been replicated in Africa but lately, I realized that in International business, it might be erroneous to directly replicate one solution to another country without having knowledge of the people, knowledge of sustainable global economy and other skills necessary when doing business across the globe. I believe this program will enable me to become an expert to build a sustainable international business and understands global economy that can tackle most of these world challenges.
