Motivation letter help
This is my motivation letter for master programme. I've read lots of advices here in advance. It's my first draft, please look through my letter and check any grammar mistakes or something that doesn't make sense in English. I'll thanks for all your comments.
MOTIVATION LETTER

Dear Sir or Madam:
I wish to apply for Master’s Degree programme in Creative Sustainability at AA University because I have been always interested in how design involves in world issues such as water shortage, global poverty, rapid changes in technology, humanities and environment. I graduated in Industrial Design from AA University in Taiwan(2009). My major mainly focuses on product design, manufacturing process and also ambiguously mentioned about the concept of universal and sustainability design in some projects. I then worked for AA Enterprise Ltd., as Accessory Designer.
WHY AM I APPLYING FOR CS PROGRAMME
Along my university career, I have been kept thinking about how design benefits to our world? Is it forming a beautiful shape or inventing a surprising function? Then I read an article about an organization ‘DESIGN FOR OUT OF 90%’ and was inspired by it’s main principle “The majority of the world’s designers focus all their efforts on developing products and services exclusively for the richest 10% of the world’s customers. Nothing less than a revolution in design is needed to reach the other 90%.” —said Dr. Paul Polak, International Development Enterprises. The other 90% represents there are more pending problems with the poor and developing countries. I came to realize that design can work bigger, design can draw the whole picture about education, health, shelter, energy with creative capabilities. With all challenges today, a designer needs a solid grounding and understanding of basic fundamentals to be able to solve these problems. Under the circumstances, I am eager to learn more knowledge not only associate with design but more economics, environment with sustainable approach. Moreover, to enhance abilities of integrating analytic and systemic thinking is also necessary. I consider Creative Sustainability programme is my best choice where provides inspirable education and practice performance.
Speak to where I come from: Taiwan. Taiwan is a very young and diversity country. Our economic structure mostly bases on minor enterprises which mostly produce OEM(Original Equipment Manufacturer). My country knows how to produce the best quality product but cannot create a world-known brand based on our own cultural value, because we don’t know how to define ourselves and properly conserve our culture. The traditions are disappearing everyday in my hometown. Our government tore down the old buildings and replaced by new ones which are modern, splendid but lack for culture. Countless traditional cultures are being destroyed by improper disposal. As a world citizen, I would really like to take my effort to conserve traditional cultures which relate to complex factors and details. Therefore, to gain more solid background and experiences and help my country maintain our unique culture is my primary concern. As far as I know, there are only few schools start the programme relating to sustainability. AA university is an university which possesses rich educational resources and an pioneer viewpoint with centuries of experience. I also visited your website where posted many student projects about issues of water shortage, shelter, culture which I am really concerned. Therefore, I believe AA university will be my best choice for my future development: grow as accomplished designer then use my knowledge to assist my country transforming into a prospective sustainability country.
WHY SHOULD I BE ADMITTED
As the qualification, I have many matchable experiences and personalities that will address me as
the best candidate. I am specialize in product design and I always use my strengths of observation, curiosity, and perseverance to discover the essential points of questions. During last year in university, I worked for a year as a student assistant to Professor Lee with National Science Council, Concept Design of Future Products Project. The project was relating to future intelligent living style which provided me an opportunity to worked with architecture, landscape graduate students. From this experience, I could participate in researching and was inspired by collaborating with interdisciplinary professions. I have a passion for field research, analysis and especially interested in further developing my skills in empirical research. As the result, I am confident that I can make a convincing contribution to the classes, particularly given my Chinese background.
Moreover, my job was involving to fashion industry: handbag design. I would have to report annual fashion tendency, explore new collections in every season and had several business trips to China, Guangzhou, the world production factory. Through my observation, the production cycle of fashion industry is extremely quick because companies educate their customers pursue the latest merchandise which seems fascinating; nevertheless, it represents a lot of waste every year. Also, through understanding how factory work mass production, I profoundly realize that the conventional production process is not suitable for our environment anymore today. This awareness enhances my determination to study in sustainability subject, and therefore I am really enthusiastic about development sustainability approach to future challenges. I believe my experience of knowing production will advantage me to work better in CS programme.
WHAT INTERESTS ME IN CS PROGRAMME
I am always interested in performing a project with interdisciplinary professions which Creative Sustainability programme provides exactly multidisciplinary and international platform, mixed people to work pioneering approaches for future together. I enjoy discussing project with different people, because it fulfills my desires of learning widely and excited me more thoughts. This co-op experience will absolutely change my vision and design thinking.
Environmental awareness has been evoked for years, and the idea of sustainability has recently become a popular issue. Those prior experiences enlighten me a main problem about sustainability development. No matter in short or long run, if people can not enjoy life as usual because we have to concern sustainability, sustainability design will not be accepted by folks and it will failed at the end. Therefore, how to maintain products, services interesting and attractive to people; meanwhile, they can conform to sustainable principles is quiet a challenge for us. On the other hand, how to enable people to enjoy sustainability system needs designers’ creative innovation and I am very willing to take this challenge!
