motivation letter for volunteer project

I am writting a motivation letter for a volunteer project but I have some difficulties.
Could someone check it for any mistake and give me some suggestions?

Dear Sir/Madam,
I would like to apply for the _ project in _.

Since I visited _ for the first time during the summer holidays, I decided to come back again and build my life there.
_ have all I have ever wished, the landscape, peace, educated and warm people and even it is not my country, I felt home.
Environmental, human and animal rights issues have always been important to me. I am a
convinced vegetarian from 12 years and I have worked in a kennel for several years.
Also, I have participated as a volunteer for different _ projects, cleaning up the beaches and helping to preserve green areas.

Perhaps it is for my committed principles that I decided to focus my study in Political Sciences. I graduated from University of “Political Sciences” in 2005 but I have not had the possibility to work for what I really like yet.
However, since then, I have worked in different places, experiencing the team-work, facing public relations and different organizational issues.

I am sure that I can learn a lot from this project and I hope that I can contribute my knowledge and experience in improving _ environmental issues. I am a flexible person, I enjoy new
challenges and opportunities in my work and I would be pleased if you gave me a chance to contribute to this project.
