Hi everyone. I am applying for a Law conversion course (CPE/GDL) at University in United Kingdom. Could someone check it for me, please?
Dear Sir or Madam,
Hereby I would like to apply for a Common Professional Exam (CPE) Law Conversion Course, commencing in September 2012. The purpose of this statement is not only to describe my educational and professional background, but also to focus your attention on how motivated I am to start Professional Exam (CPE) Law Conversion Course offered by the ........................University. The reason I chose Common Professional Exam (CPE) Law Conversion Course, is because it offers an excellent opportunity for law graduates from other jurisdictions to become qualified legal professionals capable to practise law in the United Kingdom. As a lawyer from ..................., I am excited to pursue my qualification further and become a knowledgeable solicitor in the United Kingdom. I am young, motivated and eager to face new intellectual challenges with the definite idea, to be able to help people in an international and more global environment.
My in-depth interest in law emerged immediately after the first touch with the law as a subject, taken at a grammar school. Increased need for analytical thinking, knowledge interconnection and interdisciplinary approach caught my attention. I successfully attained Master and Doctorate Degrees in Law at a leading central European University in ............, .................. Master Degree in Law is offered only in a general module; therefore I decided to sharpen my knowledge by studying Doctorate degree in Law, with the focus on Criminal law and Criminology. Opportunity to study Postgraduate Doctorate degree showed me, that despite obtaining both, my academic path should not be ceased at this point. I have a genuine interest in law and I would like to broaden my horizons and acquire deeper view and understanding of law in the United Kingdom. I have always been passionate about the possibility to help others. Now, I want to thrive in my passion and become a solicitor in United Kingdom.
While attending University, I spent summer vacations working either abroad, in United Kingdom or as a paralegal in Law firms in .............. Summer work experience helped me to develop working habits as well as to improve my overall communication and interpersonal skills. After University, I started as a lawyer in ....................... In this position I gained open-minded and emphatic approach towards people I dealt with. I developed an ability to understand and resolve complex problems and convey information in a clear, concise, and logical manner to all parties involved. At the age of ..........., I was offered an opportunity to establish a legal department and developed a team of lawyers in a top-tier construction company. I successfully fulfilled and even overpass expectations and presently, I am working as a head of a legal department in the company. In this position I learned to approach my work in a collaborative manner and resolve complicated conflicts effectively. Although I have a satisfactory job, I am missing an international scope of knowledge and experience.
Studying abroad has been my long-lasting desire since my grammar school times. Unfortunately, due to financial issues, I was not able to realize my dream. Therefore I was eager to start working, to not only gain valuable experience but with the clear vision to push my dream forward. These two years of experience helped to understand the value of money and with the support from my family, I am eventually able to gather financial resources for my studies. On the other hand, receiving Scholarship would enable me to put less financial demands on my family and facilitate covering my living expenses in United Kingdom.
I realize the highly competitive demands of the course, but I have enough ability, ambition and motivation to cope with the requirements for a successful study at the University. Adaptation and integration in the British culture and life style should not be a problem, since I am already familiar with this. To add on, I enjoy teamwork and group discussions. Other than that I like history and literature and I am fond of sports, particularly squash, in which I am a registered player. Considering my decent academic results, two years experience working as a lawyer, high level of spoken and written English and other aforementioned activities, I truly believe that I am an adequate candidate for an admission. Outstanding reputation, well-designed course program and optimal conditions for international students have made............... University in London my first choice.
Thank you for your time to consider my application. I remain at your disposal for any further information and I look forward to your positive response.
Your sincerely,
